The real purpose of the binding

The border is about more than just style. Stitched around the entire perimeter, it encases the raw edges of the weave and prevents the fiber from fraying at the corners—the areas subject to the most friction from chair movement, furniture legs, and vacuuming. Non-slip thanks to latex, not an add-on accessory

The entire underside is coated with latex. This coating creates direct grip with the floor surface, eliminating the need for underlays, adhesive strips, or anti-slip sprays. In practical terms, the rug doesn’t slide forward when stepped on, doesn’t bunch up when a chair is pulled back, and stays put on smooth tile, varnished wood, laminate, or polished concrete. Choosing the right size for your furniture

Three sizes are available: 140×200, 200×300, and 240×300 cm. A simple rule of thumb: in the living room, aim for a rug large enough to accommodate at least the front legs of the sofa and the coffee table; otherwise, the arrangement can look like it is floating. Under a dining table, allow for an overhang of at least 60 cm on each side so that chairs remain on the rug even when pulled out. In the bedroom, the 240×300 cm size allows the fibers to extend beyond the sides of the bed, ensuring your feet touch the material first thing in the morning. A raw material, free from chemical treatments

The fiber comes from the coconut husk—a part of the fruit once considered waste but now valued as a resource. It is woven in India by our long-standing partner without any chemical treatments: no dyes, stain-proofing, or fire-retardant additives. The product remains bio-based and fully biodegradable at the end of its life. With a thickness of 13 mm and a density of 1,600 g/m², it creates a genuine insulating layer between your feet and the floor, protecting against both extremes: it shields you from the cold of tiled floors in winter and the heat buildup of summer.

Suitable rooms—and those to avoid

Living room, dining room, bedroom, home office, entryway, or landing: it is suitable for any dry floor. The only restriction is prolonged exposure to moisture. Avoid bathrooms, laundry rooms, basements, or floors prone to rising damp; the fibers would eventually develop mold, and the cotton binding would retain water even longer than the coir itself. Maintenance: vacuuming and black soap for spills

Coir is maintained just like standard carpeting. Regular vacuuming is enough to remove dust from the weave. For stains, a little warm water and black soap—applied by dabbing rather than soaking the fibers—will handle most household spills. Treat the binding tape the same way, making sure to dry the cotton afterwards. The rug comes with a 2-year warranty and has an average lifespan of 3 to 4 years, depending on foot traffic.

Binding tape or raw edges: the key question
